CHRISTOPHER SHANNON/JAMES LONG AW 10

I wasn't too bowled over by Shannon's collection as Im not too keen on sportswear but I know the pain that goes into making and producing a collection so I am still impressed. These are my two favorite looks from the show; I am really liking the long shirts under jumpers in menswear this season and I am always a fan of layers. The see through blouse/trouser look is coming through quietly I have seen from Saint Martins, I like this look alot - sexy and cool with a flash of colour.

Shannon and Long showed side by side and I much preferred James Long's collection. It was dark, sexy, layered and moody I loved it. I like the dark petrol blue long knit jumper over tight PVC pants, as well as the fine knit jumper with a tie showing the orange flash underneath. I was a big fan of James's last collection and his random use of camouflage setting a trend on the catwalks after him. He is one to watch out for and I think in the next couple of years menswear will take a big turn for the good.

AITOR THROUP 'Legs' LFW10

I discovered Aitor Throup in my first year of university and he has got better ever since. I really like this exhibition named 'Legs', a fresh presentation of a wonderful collection. This was a retrospective of trousers from 2004 - 2010 a range including Trumpet trousers, Anatomy trousers and Calf Pocket trousers. Im really inspired by the imagination of this fashion installation, an intelligent approach to a signature collection. I adore Aitor's style and illustration, an incredible visionary.

J.W ANDERSON AW 10

A different take on menswear for next season than most others but it certainly is a good one. Graphic plaids, neutral tones, dog collars, punk boots, flowers. This collection had a mix of different genres but it worked. Eclectic yet tasteful and tonal. My favorite is the chiffon over the cable knit jumpers, that was a really nice touch, something I wouldn't mind playing with. And of course the flowers in the bag, I hoped it to be a nod to Morrissey.

CAROLYN MASSEY AW 10

I was waiting with baited breath to see Massey's AW10 collection at London Fashion week and I wasn't diappointed.

A beautifuly modest colour palette, a complementary mix of fine knits, chunky scarves, slinky shirts and tailored jackets worked a treat. I am a big fan of Carolyn's work as I too am an aspiring menswear designer looking to study at the Royal College after my BA(hons) course next year. She is an incredible designer producing stylish, wearable and innovative menswear.

LONDON FASHION WEEK AW 2010

Very impressed with the CSM AW10 catwalk show on Sunday. These were my favourites. I wasn't blown away by the menswear which is a shame I would have liked to have seen more. Not the usual atention seeking crap that you see coming from saint martins but structural extremely well made pieces.

Designers Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery are the brains behind this awesome menswear brand.
I love it because it's knitwear, it's menswear, and it's crazy!

I really like their style and ethos it's incredible; pushing menswear forward I am super impressed! I first came across Sibling last year in Italy for the trade show Piti Filati, their advertising campaign was in Another Man I think and it was a dog in the pink leopard cardigan. It was such a good image that we used it for our fashion show tickets and posters.

They truly are brilliant, it's what mens knitwear needs it's amazing!!

I got the beset present ever on the weekend from my fabulous friend Asher. I study Fashion Knitwear Design but I am completely head over heels in love with pattern cutting. I am on a pattern cutting placement an Temperley London and everyday it confirms my passions.

This is a Japanese pattern cutting book and it's one of the best I have ever seen. There are a couple of things that Im going to try out: collars that are built into the main bodice piece, 3D holes that fold out of the body. It's indredible.

So I just stumbled over a masterpiece and almost broke my jaw as it hit the desk!

I like this ALOT. It's incredible; it's completely authentic and subtle yet just mindboggling at the same time! Jil Sander is amazing for that and I am a big fan of the J+ line in Uniqlo. I keep oggling the camel trench coat and wondering wether I can afford it . . . the answer is always no to anything but I do love it.

What can I say, I love these outfits! No1 is Stella McCartney's S/S 10 collection, everything about it is right, the neutrals, the splash of indigo, the cut, the shoulder pads. I would love to have that outfit.

Numero deux is from Jeremy Scott's A/W 07 collection Happy Daze. I love the stuffed roll collar, lovely fresh colours and the poodle is great!

Alexander McQueen A/W 10

I've heard tales from friends about interns at McQueen, I adore the man and think he's a genius but from what I know I would never work there. However he is still one of my favourite designers alongside Hussein Chalayan, Stella McCartney and Yves Saint laurent.

McQueen and Chalayan are the closest to the kind of design I like to do myself; dark themes, art pieces, powerful, interesting, technological, and a bit strange. I will always love his work and this collection follows on from his womenswear S/S 10 beautifully.

Trust Alber Elbaz to take my breath away once again, the man is a legend. The drape and construction of his work is outstanding. I love the top knit(?) piece, it almost looks like a piece of armour clipped onto the black top. The jacket sleeves underneath are another nice cheeky twist, bringing glamour into menswear, god knows they love it.

I do quite like Jonathan Saunders but I don't know how I feel about him doing a collection for Topshop. All these designers pushing their diluted designs onto a public that probably never knew who they were, hmmm I just feel like it's a bit of a sell out for money I guess. Keep your integrity, you would never have seen Coco Channel or Yves Saint Laurent selling their soul to Topshop.

I came across an artist I really liked today in Brick Lane. Her name is Laura Jordan and her work is so good! Really intricate pen drawings with ink almost a collage image of bits and bobs of London, they are really lovely. Check out her website at www.delicatemayhem.com/

Im thinking alot about robots these days for my collection next year at university so I asked a member of staff that just happened to walk past me in the ginormous store and by fluke he knew all about anime robot films and he gave me some great tips and names that I never would of known.

I am on an internship at Temperley London in the pattern cutting studio and it is the most amazing place to do a placement at. I have learnt so much whilst I have been there and the staff are brilliant with their students. We get taught alot and given alot of responsibility, I absolutely love it!

Another man that knows how to do a good suit. Not too sure on the rest of the collection (mainly bloody wrestlers with muscle suit, boxing gloves and JPG wrestling belt) but the tailoring I love. I am loving the cream lining in the overcoat, very nice indeed.

I have started a new collection of mens suits and tailored jackets from vintage stores around London, they are at work at the minute Im going t take the pattern from them but I shall shortly have photo's.

This is my favorite of Westwood's recent collection. Like the double collar theme here is a 'double cuff'. I like this rolled up sleeve effect for a different print to be underneath but the same garment. A nice touch - twisted authenticity, we all know she's the queen of that!

This I adore. Im a big fan of neutral tones - I love designing in them yet I like to wear colourful garments myself, odd?
The olive green overcoat is my favourite, Ive seen alot of double collars in London today - Vivienne westwood menswear and John Lewis dpt store window. I am liking that effect alot and wouldn't mind looking into it some more for my own work. You could do some pretty dramatic things with a double collar theory.

So yes I like Fujiwara's collection alot it's strong, masculine, creative and slick.

Head & Griffiths competition.

A competition Im doing right now is one for an online suiting company called Head and Griffiths. There are 4 briefs to chose from; menswear suits, womenswear suits, bespoke lining and a wallet range. Im going for the menswear suit brief as I really enjoy designing menswear, I haven't figured out why there's just something about it that draws me to it.

I have chosen to look at classic mod suiting from the 60's and taking elements from one of my tailoring masters Sir Paul Smith. Im keeping myself rather busy as of late with side projects, Im also applying for a placement in Nepal as a knitwear designer. It sounds like a pretty good opportunity so I will see what comes of it.

Paul Smith has always been a favorite of mine. His simple, sleek style takes my breath away and is use of colour is outstanding.

I especially love his suit range, I have a small obsession with menswear tailoring and when I see a good suit I am in heaven but Paul Smith put that quirky magical touch that they have and transform a traditional suit into something else.
Wether it's the lime green lining on the grey pinstripe jacket, or the odd buttons on the shirt cuff I am always blown away when I see his suits.
He is one of my many masters.
